Create Lists

One thing to spark creativity is the Make Lists.

And with that, This blog will now be dedicated to that exact thing.

I will be making lists. But where most lists go to ten, I’ll do them one better and go to eleven. Some of the lists will be a “best of” (the good), some will be a “worst of” (the bad), and some lists will focus on unknown bands and music (the unknown).

I’m hoping to not limit myself to just music or bands, but rather anything pop culture (such as books, movies, art).  This will basically be my lists for anything I find interesting, and on my mind.

Trying New Things - Pinterest

The greatest creativity spark is other people and trying new things.

This past two week’s new thing was trying a new social networking site.Under numerous pressure and convincing from friends, I have been convinced to open up a Pinterest account.  To be honest, at first i thought it was a pointless site and didn’t see myself enjoying it one bit. But perceptions can be changed.

It is the perfect place for crafty people to get ideas.  There are variety of different categories to explore.  The one’s that caught my initial eye were: Art, Design, DIY and Crafts, Film Music and Books, Humor and Geek.

I have gotten so many ideas on things i can create or do from this site, its crazy.  There are so many things on my to do list craft and art wise at least.

Coffee = Focused

In the morning, I stumble out of bed and fill the coffeepot with water.  I fill it up to the six printed on the glass.  Then proceed to pout it out, out into the back of my simple coffeemaker.  This makes enough for 1 cup of coffee in my green “Jackie” cup and leaves enough for 1 mug for on the go.  If I don’t have enough for a mug on the go, I am lost.  I am lost without my coffee in my first class of the day.  This is very ironic for someone who knew me in high school or last year for that matter.

I have always said coffee was nasty and that I would never drink it, but then I had it, and it is wonderful.  Ever since I’ve started, I have been a more of a happy motivated person.  I have done some of my best work, school related and not school related from coffee.

Some studies have shown that coffee or the ritual of drinking coffee can spark creativity, I don’t really agree with that completely.  Either a person is creative or not creative, a simple caffeine drink won’t suddenly make someone a creative thinker.  I mean I consider myself to have always been somewhat creative, and my mind always going.  But coffee does do something to me, it gets my mind on track with what I want and need to do.  It keeps me focused.

33 Ways to Stay Creative

I recently came across this 33 Ways to Stay Creative list that has been passed along the Internet streams. I saw it, and I liked it. I liked it so much I made it into a laptop background wallpaper for my Computersaurus Rex. (Dinosaurs are amazing) (and YES i make up random names to call things)

Just the view of seeing this list every time I go on to my computer, is inspiring and motivates me to be creative and original.  While all of these i try to do, one stands out in particular and is one of my favorite things about my day.

#8 Sing in the Shower - I do this on a daily basis.  There is no greater feeling than putting on some tunes and singing while you start your day.  I feel so bad for my roommates who have to listen to that every morning, especially when i’m usually the first one up and gets ready first.  But if i cant be myself in my own house, then i don’t want to be, theres no point.

PS-  I tried to find the original source of the piece, but it seems it’s been watered down in circulation. If you know the source, I’m happy to update with credit.

Notes

cre·a·tiv·i·ty

Noun

1) the state or quality of being creative

2) the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc. : originality, progressiveness, or imagination: the need for creativity in modern industry; creativity in the performing arts.

3) the process by which one utilizes creative ability: Extensive reading stimulated his creativity

Creativity comes from inspiration and willingness to open your mind.

It can come and be expressed at anytime.  While everyone is different (some may not even achieve it) , the end result is virtually the same, coming up with a new and exciting way of doing something, something that hasn’t been done before, something completely orginal. Unique.

In this blog, my goal is to write about anything and everything in my life that inspires me, whether it be my favorite album or song currently, what art concept or idea I’m obsessed with, my various wish lists of random objects on the internet, or my thoughts and worries of being a senior that keep me up at night, no one knows.  But one thing is certain, everything written or expressed will be 100% me, 100% orginal, 100% unique in thought.
